Global family capital focussed on long-term opportunities.

Leveraging our heritage in telecommunications, media, and technology, Afera Holdings invests in private, illiquid opportunities designed to create long-term value across private equity, partnerships, technology, and real assets.

Our Focus

Private Equity

Debt and equity investments in privately owned businesses to facilitate ownership transition, growth, or strategic repositioning.

Partnerships

Passive investments that enable entrepreneurs, management teams, and sponsors to create value through growth.

Technology

Investments in intellectual property assets and royalty-based structures that help technology creators achieve success.

Real Assets

Real estate and infrastructure assets in rapidly expanding markets, providing stable, long-term yields.

Investment Strategy

As a single-family office, Afera Holdings invests across a flexible spectrum of capital strategies. With a history deeply rooted in telecom, media, and technology, we seek to be value-added partners to companies, management teams, sponsors, and entrepreneurs.

We focus on quality macro opportunities and develop unique structures that provide competitive forms of capital to high-quality teams. Because we invest committed family capital and have no outside limited partners, we are able to move quickly, underwrite with a long-term mindset, and create flexible deal structures.

Majority Buyouts

Acquiring controlling stakes in mature, cash-generative businesses. We partner with existing management to drive operational improvements, international expansion, and strategic acquisitions.

A multigenerational investment platform shaped by telecommunications, infrastructure, and long-term partnership.

In 1968, Lucas Afera purchased a single tract of farmland 25 kilometres north of Brussels. Originally intended as a modest long-term investment to provide a legacy for his young children, the investment eventually became the foundation for a broader strategy tied to the growth of European financial markets.

By the time the Maastricht Treaty was signed in 1992, the family's land strategy had expanded to include telecommunications infrastructure. The next generation of the Afera family had already joined the business, helping transform a long-term asset base into an operating and investment platform.

In 2000, the company's assets and technology played a role in the market infrastructure developments that led to the combination of the Bourse de Bruxelles, the Amsterdam Bourse, and the Paris Bourse, forming what is known today as Euronext.

Today, partnership remains central to the Afera family's investment philosophy. Across four generations, the family has built a platform spanning private company investments, intellectual property royalties, infrastructure assets, and real estate.
